Employment in healthcare occupations is projected to grow 16% over the next decade, much faster than the average for all occupations, adding almost 3 million new jobs. Healthcare occupations are projected to add more jobs than any of the other occupational groups.
The national median annual wage for healthcare practitioners and technical occupations (such as registered nurses) was $75,040 in May 2021, which was higher than the median annual wage for all occupations in the economy of $45,760.*
- Practical Nurse
The Nursing program is available on both Trinidad and Alamosa campuses and offer the Practical Nurse exit option. - Practical Nurse - Associate Degree, Nursing
Practical Nurse completing the second year of Associate Degree, Nursing classes are face to face. - Associate Degree, Nursing
Face to face two years. - Bachelor of Science, Nursing
Online courses can be started while taking the Associate Degree, Nursing courses or can be attained after completed the Associate Degree, Nursing.
- Emergency Medical Technician
The Emergency Medical Department has a degree and many certificates offered on both campuses in one semester. - Emergency Medical Technician - Advanced
The Emergency Medical Technician - Advanced is offered on both campuses in two semesters. - IV certification offered after each EMT class.

- Dental Assisting
The Dental Assisting program on the Valley Campus (Alamosa) is designed to prepare students to deliver quality oral health care and to become valuable members of the dental care team. The duties of a dental assistant are among the most comprehensive and varied in the dental office.
- Medical Assistant Professional
The Medical Assistant Professional program is designed to prepare students for clinical responsibilities such as review of a patient’s medical history; pre-examination tasks before the doctor sees the patient; and support and assistance to the physician during the exam. Some clinical medical assistants are responsible for drawing a patient’s blood, processing lab specimens, and other clinically related duties.
- Nurse Aide
This program is designed to introduce the student to the basic concepts of nursing. It emphasizes the development of basic skills in administering safe, competent care to patients. It demonstrates skills needed for the observation and documentation of the patient's health, physical condition, and general well being.
